Discover Twenty-Nine New Game Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)
The world's favorite pizza-eating superheroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The popular TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special event hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a radical addition or simply another Universes Beyond cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Check out below at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with key context. Everything listed here launches on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27th.
MTG x TMNT: Main Set Cards
Before diving into all the various unique products and collections available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the expansion are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a couple of surprising features. To begin, there's a new mechanic named Sneak Attack, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, where gamers can cheat big creatures onto the game field whenever an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells too. The designers also used this chance to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in future sets from now on.
Should we go back to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that's where it originated and it is iconic to that,” a senior game designer explained. “However in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four special cards with special art designed specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing cards that aren't in your deck, many players were. Yet as per Wizards, it’s now a legal card in every format of Magic.
In any case, here are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from this set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to ensure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for over a year and we knew it was going to be in standard and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” a lead designer says. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet strategy built around artifacts.
“They mesh together to provide the pieces for a fun Standard deck,” the designer added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander based on how you combine them (five cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area instead of just one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander deck is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up due to popularity. Wizards told that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an additional thirty-seven TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary creatures shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we assume the precon includes 37 land cards.)
What will the Turtles version of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Regular)
As per usual, Wizards is selling a bundle. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:
- 9 Play Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
- Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
- Two helper cards
- 1 Traditional foil promo card
- One Oversized life tracker
- 1 storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the following:
- 9 Play Boosters
- 1 Collector Booster
- 25 Non-foil pizza-themed lands
- 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Foil Pizza Bundle promo cards
- 2 Reference cards
- One Oversized life tracker
- One Card-storage box
For those curious about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card featuring all-new TMNT artwork. Wizards showed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter adding toppings on a pizza slice. There are six different pizza promos in total.
This special bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
- Twelve Play Boosters (the perfect amount four people to draft)
- 1 Premium Booster (also known as, the reward for coming in first)
- 90 Regular land cards (for building your deck)
- 10 Non-foil token cards
- 1 drafting guide (a one-sheet guide to drafting the set)
Cooperative Play Set
Lastly, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic game products specifically for new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players team up to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The concept here that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays one other card per turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
